(Elder Johnson and I)

What’s up everyone. This week was a weird one for sure. After being here for a while, my district and I have realized that every district has a weird identity. Por ejemplo, you have one district that just yo-yo's all day and talks like frat dudes. There's another district that's lowkey ghetto and just hacky sacks all day in a circle with earbuds in. We're pretty sure they just listen to Pop Smoke(rapper) because they rap along to Woo Baby bar for bar with earbuds in. But for the most part, people are awesome and talking to people here is so fun. They're from all over the world and it's so hard to not walk around and just talk to random people all night. There's definitely been nights where I've done that though haha.

I do not like singing, but this week we decided to man up and go to choir practice for funsies. It went terribly. That's it.

A couple of Elders in my district and I's favorite thing to do is befriend the Latino districts. Most of them don't like Americans and they like to make fun of us and our spanish. They definitely get a kick out of us. They're also the more fun districts and they bring the vibes everywhere they go. They for sure rock with us cause they teach us spanish slang and play Futbol with us. I been grinding soccer and I juggled a soccer ball 20 times which was a record for me.

Also we got some nicknames in our district. Elder pionke was chilling and this guy walked up and read his name tag and was like "ELDER POOKIE!" That definitely stuck cause bro is for real pookie. Elder Pookie and I like this 🤞 I can always count on bro to get my meme references and he's got fire music taste.

My district calls me unc because I'm the only Elder in my district who is 19 and went to a year of college before. Everyone else is 18 and fresh outta high school and they sometimes ask for some uncle wisdom. One time I was spitting some unc wisdom and I caught an elder litewally taking notes. Apparently, I give unc vibes or sum. Yo soy unc.

In my last email, I briefly mentioned Elder Johnson. Well a couple of days ago he was on the top bunk leaning over and reading his companion's journal and fell straight on his head and tore a bunch of ligaments in his shoulder, so his bone was sticking out of his shoulder. My comp and I ran to reception to get a doctor and the doctor eventually scooped Elder Johnson and long story short: he went to the hospital, came back to our casa and he had to go home to rehab or get surgery. The craziest thing about the whole situation is Elder Johnson NEVER complained or even said one negative thing. His positive attitude and general kindness is so inspiring to me.

Losing Elder Johnson is really tough for everyone in our district including me. He has the same laugh as my younger brother, Blake and his kindness reminds me of my younger sister skye. So whenever I was with him, I felt a little at home. He's taught me so much about loving everyone unconditionally and staying focused on our mission to serve joyfully. He's the happiest and purest dude I've ever met and I know when he gets to Jacksonville he's gonna kill it. I know God put him in my room because he was the example I needed to make changes to my work. When I first saw his picture, I knew our relationship would be special and I'll remember him forever. When he left I gave him one of my Teck Decks as a symbol of our friendship. Also pray for Elder Ricks because he lost Elder Johnson and is now joining Elder Zielke and I to make a trio companionship. We rolling three deep now everywhere we go and the CCM ain't ready🤫😤

Invitation: If someone does something you like or is an example to you. Tell them. Voice how you feel directly to them because it makes everyone feel good in the end.

Remember you are loved and life is good.

Peace and Love,
Elder Adamson
