How you say broke in Spanish? Me no hablo.

Image
In Kanye's legendary album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Ye drops one of the hardest lyrics of all time: "how you say broke in Spanish? Me no hablo." Kanye is refering to his extensive wealth and the fact he doesn't speak broke. It's a double entendre(I think I spelt that wrong) because Kanye is also saying he doesn't know a lot of Spanish. That is what Kanye and I have in common. I literally don't know how to say the word "broke" in Spanish. I don't know how to say a lot of words in Spanish and currently that's one my many challenges as a missionary. I grind and grind words throughout the day and Spanish study, so when it comes time to some lessons I can apply them. Then the lesson comes and I'm still reduced to talking like a preschooler. Ever since I've gotten to Florida this has frustrated me and I have been doubting myself and abilities. However, on Halloween we spent an entire afternoon trying to find people to teach...

Juan a little crazy, but he chill

Hello everyone. Yet again another great week here in Tallahassee. I definitely still feel like I got lucky with my comps and area, we have a lot of fun and we have a lot of people who are progressing in our area. The work is working. This week I also went to my first zone conference. Very spiritual. Definitely have learned a lot and I for sure have everything to learn.   Started out the week with a banger P Day.  As a district we went to the ocean and looked around. I haven't really gotten homesick on my mission until I saw the ocean. Some of my favorite memories are driving over to the coast to hang out in Monterey with the fam or surf Pacifica with the Larsonian Party. Definitely missing all that a little bit, but that's just going to make it that much better when we all get back. At the beach I got to hang out with the homie Elder Childs and catch crabs, I kid you not there was like a million crabs. It's always a pleasure goofing off with the district. Twas a fantast...

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well and life is going great for you all. I can definitely feel the prayers, so thank you. Since I got here a week later than I was supposed to and our first week we were only moving trees, my trainers have had to make up for the lost time. One of things we've had to make up is exchanges and since one my trainers is the district leader, I've been on 5 exchanges in the past 10 days, which I'm pretty sure is a lot. An exchange is where you switch companions for day to learn about their area and perspective on missionary work. I love exchanges because they are an opportunity to learn from guys who are way better than me at this work and exchanges present themselves as an outlet for me to actually contribute abstract thoughts in English. My quick Spanish update is that I now sound like a six year old, which is better than a five year old. I also love learning Spanish. However, I still struggle with complex ideas and getting ideas acros...

Drunk Guy at McDonald’s 10/14/24

Hola todos! Hopefully you all had great weeks. Before I came on the mission, no one told me how fun this work is. When you're wearing a tag and walking around the most random things happen to you. We were kind of in a boonies area and one of my comps had to use the restroom, so we pull over at a McDonald's. This McDonald's was packed for no reason and it was active. Like 7 PM on a Thursday and people were legit going crazy in this McDonald's. Anyways my comp gets to the restroom and I'm waiting outside for him with this other Elder who is on an exchange with us, who doesn't know Spanish. This Hispanic homeless guy comes up to us and immediately starts belting some catholic hymn as loud as he could and talking to us in Spanish about how he loves Jesus. About 30 seconds into the conversation, I realized he was freaking wasted. I'm still gonna chop it up nonetheless. However, it was super difficult cause he slurring everything and it was in Spanish.  By this ...

Hurricane Womp Womp 10/7/24

First door I knocked on Hello everyone! Around two weeks ago, I was planning on leaving the Mexico MTC with my district and traveling to Florida. Then around twelve hours before I was supposed to leave the MTC president comes to our lunch table and is like who's going to Tallahassee? He finds me and tells me I'm staying an extra week or so because a hurricane is making landfall on my mission and could hit Tallahassee directly. That totally made sense and my first reaction after the president left was to be pissed. However, I thought what would Jesus Christ do in my situation? Jesus Christ would just vibe in Mexico for the week so that's exactly what I did. I said goodbye to my old district which was so sad, I love you all 10J, and moved to a new house with a new district and new companion. The new district was cool, but my companion told me he wasn't into socializing so we did...

Elder Juarez  Street Certified Holaaa a todos! Hopefully you all are doing good and when you guys pray for the missionaries it's definitely felt here so gracias. This week it was my little brother Blake's birthday so I got to call him. Blakey is going crazy at cross country, he's a dog. King of Springview Middle School frfr This week we started Solo Español which means we're only supposed to be talking in Spanish. So basically I just walk around talking like a four year old. However, last week I was talking like a three year old so progress is being made guys don't worry. The goal is to talk like a five year old next week and only go up from there. Spanish is seriously so fun to talk in though and I enjoy it so much. Every day I get better and the progress is super motivating. Don't get it twisted I still suck at spanish. However I have fun speaking it and I can give a little lesson and talk about basic stuff pretty confidently. Also I can understand my teache...
