Drunk Guy at McDonald’s 10/14/24
Hola todos! Hopefully you all had great weeks. Before I came on the mission, no one told me how fun this work is. When you're wearing a tag and walking around the most random things happen to you.
We were kind of in a boonies area and one of my comps had to use the restroom, so we pull over at a McDonald's. This McDonald's was packed for no reason and it was active. Like 7 PM on a Thursday and people were legit going crazy in this McDonald's. Anyways my comp gets to the restroom and I'm waiting outside for him with this other Elder who is on an exchange with us, who doesn't know Spanish. This Hispanic homeless guy comes up to us and immediately starts belting some catholic hymn as loud as he could and talking to us in Spanish about how he loves Jesus. About 30 seconds into the conversation, I realized he was freaking wasted. I'm still gonna chop it up nonetheless. However, it was super difficult cause he slurring everything and it was in Spanish.
By this time my comp comes out of the restroom and the Hispanic guy tells us he's sick and and has no money, so my comp asks us to pray for him to which the guy starts screaming the catholic hymn as loud as he could in the middle of this packed McDonald's. We fold our arms to pray for him and the guy grabs all three of us and pulls us in to do some hug group prayer thing. He then starts singing praises to the Lord in this McDonald's. He had been touchy the entire interaction, but during the group prayer he starts grinding up on my comp's leg pretty hard-core and I was starting to loose it. He progressively got crazier and crazier on my comps leg and Elder Baxter was taking it like an absolute champ. I was starting to loose it though and then some people on the other side of the McDonald's yell, "AYO WHAT THE (f word), WHAT THESE (n-words) DOIIIN?" I lost it. We were LDS missionaries hug praying with a homeless guy who was humping the said missionaries leg in the middle of a McDonald's. Definitely the best thing to ever happen to me and the people in the McDonald's were going crazy for it. To make the situation even better our exchange comp realized the Hobo peed himself at some point because he had a huge stain all over his pants. We ended up buying him a Big Mac cause he peed himself and he said thanks by singing his hymn. 10/10 contact
I'd like to add that I seriously lucked out with my trainers. On your mission you call your trainer your dad and so luckily for me I have two dads. I work hard with my dad's every day and we just have so much fun spreading the message of God's love. Couldn't have asked for a better trio.
Overall, Florida is great and I'm excited to spend the next 22 months here. I'm constantly meeting the weirdest and nicest people, whether I'm knocking on doors or doing service. If someone's not nice more than likely they do the most random thing ever and we get a funny story out of it.
