We Out Here 9/29/24

Hello, everyone. I hope you are doing well and prospering in the USA. I'm in Mexico right now currently in the Mexico MTC and I'm learning how to be a missionary and how to speak spanish. So here's what I've been up to week 2.

I flew to SLC and my flight left at 5:30AM so I had to be to the airport at 3:30. The only eventful thing to happen at the Sac airport was this chick with throat tattoos pulling up on me at four in the morning to tell me she hates Mormons. I was like bruh I just got here. Anyways we talked for an hour about being LDS and music and then this summer sales bro joined the conversation and we talked about canadian celebrities. When she left, she told me I was the chillest Mormon she'd ever met so hopefully that's a good thing.

When I got to SLC I was put on a plane with a bunch of missionaries also going to the Mexico MTC. I met my district there and we all clicked pretty fast which was awesome. There was like 150 missionaries on the plane and people would come up and take pictures of us. I was one of the first missionaries to get on the plane and the guy in the aisle next to me would wink to every sister missionary that walked by. I was like trust me bro they don't want you, stop being a weirdo. I didn't say that I just winked at him a bunch of times then he chilled out. On the plane I studied the scriptures but also seshed this Delta airlines golf game with Elder Vargas next to me. I scored +11 on a Par 18 course. Elder vargas scored +24 on the same course and quit on the 17th hole cause I was beating him too bad. Gamers gonna game.

When we got to the Mexico airport we were with our district and we were still getting to know each other. One of our elders said he had to use the restroom and his comp said with no hesitation "I'll hold it for you." Bro was completely serious and seemed like one of the most innocent kids I have ever met. The district was like hol up that's kinda Loco but we could tell the elder didn't mean it like that. He ended up saying he would hold his bag for him while he was in there. We laughed about that for a while.

We took a bus to the MTC and that's where I've been everyday since then. The classes are really long, but so spiritual and I've been able to teach some things I couldn't even comprehend until I got here. We also have spiritual discussions with our district every other night where everyone talks about their lives before they came here and other topics. Most of the people cry during it, but one thing I've realized since being here is that when I feel spirit, I don't cry. I've always wondered why I can't cry when I feel emotional because sometimes I really feel like I should but I just can't. However, in the MTC I have discovered instead of crying, I receive a feeling of peace and stability. This gospel is true and it is the most stable thing in my life. I know God knows me and He is giving me the peace I need to be here and I'm trying my best because that is all we can really do. I can do all things through Him.

My favorite part of the day is journaling with the guys in my room. Elder Zielke and I share a bunk bed. And the other bunk bed has Elder Johnson and Rick's. Zielke is my comp and we just laugh all day. We always on the same page and we are working together on Spanish and teaching using the spirit during discussions. Rick's has truly an amazing story and because of him I now have so much more empathy for mental illness. My understanding on the matter has allowed me to see mental health as something more important that I previously thought and I will always appreciate him for taking the time to explain it to me. Lastly, we got Johnson. He is the sweetest and purest kid to ever exist. I seriously love him and he is a huge example to me because he just radiates kindness.

Invitation: if you've gotten this far into the email I invite to talk to someone who's not really your favorite person ever. Open up to them first and try and get to know them. I promise you'll like em more afterwards:)

Thanks for reading guys. Remember you are loved and life is good.

Peace and Love,
Elder Adamson
