First door I knocked on

Hello everyone! Around two weeks ago, I was planning on leaving the Mexico MTC with my district and traveling to Florida. Then around twelve hours before I was supposed to leave the MTC president comes to our lunch table and is like who's going to Tallahassee? He finds me and tells me I'm staying an extra week or so because a hurricane is making landfall on my mission and could hit Tallahassee directly. That totally made sense and my first reaction after the president left was to be pissed. However, I thought what would Jesus Christ do in my situation? Jesus Christ would just vibe in Mexico for the week so that's exactly what I did. I said goodbye to my old district which was so sad, I love you all 10J, and moved to a new house with a new district and new companion. The new district was cool, but my companion told me he wasn't into socializing so we didn't talk much at first. He was really shy and I could tell he didn't talk at all throughout his time at the MTC. Eventually, I got him talking and this dude would talk for hours at a time. I could tell he really needed this and I really needed to listen. He taught me so much about organization skills and in his hour long yap sessions, I gained much more knowledge on gospel topics. Love that guy fr. Overall, the extra week was a great experience and I learned much more Spanish and was able to lock in on my study. Also I got new teachers and they definitely made an impact on me.
Then I flew solo from Mexico to Atlanta and in Atlanta someone paid for my Chipotle. Dope. Then on the plane to Tallahassee, I chatted it up with this lady about the church and I gave my first lesson. It was an hour long and she was super into it the whole time. In the end I invited her to church and she said yes. We still text and I'm excited to see if it actually goes well with the English elders. Hopefully they don't fumble cause I was balling.
Got to Tallahassee and I was assigned to an only Spanish area. My area is the entire Tallahassee zone which includes the city of Tallahassee and immediate surrounding towns and we're only allowed to preach in Spanish. I'm also in a trio with two trainers and they're sick. One is from Los Angeles and the other is from Oregon. Love these guys already and we've definitely laughed a lot. They already have really good Spanish and I'm trynna get to that level. Including my og trio, my companion for the last week of the MTC and my new trio, I've had five companions already. Blessed
Hurricane Hellen made landfall in a town inside of my Tallahassee zone, so I've had the opportunity of doing hurricane cleanup every day of my mission so far. We couldn't even watch conference because we were moving trees on sunday. I've only gone out finding once for about hour and it was great. Other than that though, all of my days are just driving around east of Tallahassee with my Spanish branch pulling up to different work sites to cut up huge trees and put them in piles and then moving on to the next one. It's been amazing to see how the church handles humanitarian efforts. 100 stakes in the southern U.S mobilize to North Florida and camp out just to serve. I've met people from all over, who are spending their weekend just serving others and spending their nights in tents.
During one of the first sites we went to, I sat down on a bench and felt something bite my stomach. So I look down and it's a dozen fire ants all up in my shirt. I had to walk to the car and the entire time they were just biting all over, it hurt so bad you guys don't even know, so I had to take all my clothes off and smack em off. It was great timing cause when I was basically naked hiding behind the car, some people from my branch went up to introduce themselves, so their first time meeting me I had no clothes on and was being bit by fire ants. Dope. Also I love this branch and they are genuinely so caring and make sure to help me with my Spanish throughout the day cause it's pretty bad but we're seeing improvements. I already have so much love for them because I've been hanging with them for the past five days doing only manual labor.
We helped this one house with a tree on top of it. That was a struggle. It was owned by this Florida crackhead family. Think of a meth head mom and dad, with two cracked out twin sons around the age of 27. The entire time our Spanish branch was getting a tree off their house, they were just sitting there laughing, drinking, making fun of us, filming us, calling up their friends to hang out and here we are taking a massive oak tree off their stank house for FREE. They didn't help with a single thing at all. It got to the point where the twins started taking edibles and our bishop told them to stop drinking and being loud or else we'd leave.
I did not want to do service for these people(because they sucked), but I did with my branch and companions. I learned so much about charity that day. These people needed help, they definitely could not afford a tree removal service and this tree was so big, it would eventually cave in on their little house. So we spent the afternoon cutting up the tree and we got it done. Looking back I'm grateful for that job site and it taught me the most because in any other situation I would've dipped but I stayed because I'm a missionary and we do selfless acts of service even if you don't get a thank you and the people you are serving are drunk and taking edibles at the same time. It's all good.
Invitation: pray for Elder Tucker Wagnon and Asheville, North Carolina (non negotiable Invitation) they were smacked by Hurricane Hellen and Ashville got insane flooding and a lot of people sadly passed away in that area.
Remember you are loved and life is good.
Peace and Love,
Elder Adamson
