Happy Birthday Blake

Holaaa a todos!

Hopefully you all are doing good and when you guys pray for the missionaries it's definitely felt here so gracias. This week it was my little brother Blake's birthday so I got to call him. Blakey is going crazy at cross country, he's a dog. King of Springview Middle School frfr

This week we started Solo Español which means we're only supposed to be talking in Spanish. So basically I just walk around talking like a four year old. However, last week I was talking like a three year old so progress is being made guys don't worry. The goal is to talk like a five year old next week and only go up from there. Spanish is seriously so fun to talk in though and I enjoy it so much. Every day I get better and the progress is super motivating. Don't get it twisted I still suck at spanish. However I have fun speaking it and I can give a little lesson and talk about basic stuff pretty confidently. Also I can understand my teachers pretty well which is huge because I had no idea what was going on the first week. Our teacher realized we were understanding him though and decided to humble us by showing a video of a street interview in the Dominican Republic. I had no idea what was happening so that was lame. In the end though progress is progress and I'm glad to be here.

This week we lost our homie, Elder Jaurez. He's our amigo from Mexico and he's the funniest guy I've met here. He's going to Brazil to speak Portuguese and already is extremely fluent in Spanish and English. His English is really good because he was put in a dual language learning thing taught by Americans and also dated this chick from Wales, so he has suuuper thick English accent when he says certain words. He says he loves white girls and whenever a sister missionary walks by that he thinks is cute, he'll smirk at us and go, "ok... she is awesome." It's so funny every time and he never understood why we thought it was so funny. Also his old district left to serve Mexican missions and he had to stay an extra week to learn portuguese. He's the only guy here learning that so he got put into a new district and doesn't have a companion during the day. He told us he doesn't like his new district because they smell bad and are weird. So he just doesn't associate with them and rolls with us instead. I wouldn't have wanted it anyother way though because he's taught me so much about spanish and he's taught us so much cool slang. I got so much of the slang phrases down, I'm actually a cholo now.

As a district, we've taken up pickleball and we pull up to the courts like we in NBA2K: My Park and play random missionaries. Last week, Hermana Collins and I were beating this companionship so badly that one of the elders spanked his own butt with his pickleball paddle and walked away in anger. I honestly felt so bad for him, he probably wasn't having the best day, and I prayed for him that night. Haven't seen him since the spanking, but I wish him the best.

Every single day here is really fun, but also really hard. Whenever I feel down I remember this email quote from one of my friends from college, who's now in the Provo MTC: "If you think you arent good enough, great. What next? You gonna give up and go home? How is that going to grow your testimony??" Wow. Elder Brown you truly have a way with words.

I've learned it's really important to count your blessings and express gratitude. Doing those things, while also finding humor in the little things has really been a game changer for my experience here. You can find God's love in pretty much everything. I know that to be true.

Invitation: look for God's love in your life.

Remember you are loved and life is good.

Peace and Love,
Elder Adamson
