Juan a little crazy, but he chill

Hello everyone. Yet again another great week here in Tallahassee. I definitely still feel like I got lucky with my comps and area, we have a lot of fun and we have a lot of people who are progressing in our area. The work is working. This week I also went to my first zone conference. Very spiritual. Definitely have learned a lot and I for sure have everything to learn.

Started out the week with a banger P Day.  As a district we went to the ocean and looked around. I haven't really gotten homesick on my mission until I saw the ocean. Some of my favorite memories are driving over to the coast to hang out in Monterey with the fam or surf Pacifica with the Larsonian Party. Definitely missing all that a little bit, but that's just going to make it that much better when we all get back. At the beach I got to hang out with the homie Elder Childs and catch crabs, I kid you not there was like a million crabs. It's always a pleasure goofing off with the district. Twas a fantastic time.

Also we got a lot of teaching in this week. This week we really got to focus on our friend Juan. If I had one word to describe Juan: it would be freaky. Juan is one freaky man. His tounge is always out of his mouth, he has posters of the Florida State women's volleyball team in his kitchen for no reason, and Juan loves to ask us if we're currently flirting with the misioneras. Juan also told me he put viagra in my juice. I was like dang I'm pretty sure he just told me he put viagra in my juice, but there's probably a word in Spanish that sounds like viagra and I just misunderstood him. Nope. Bro just told me he put viagra in my juice and I kept on drinking like an idiot after he told me. (Clarification: Juan didnt actually put that in my juice) Bro got a good laugh. Like 20 minutes later we put him on baptismal date. It's pretty crazy what the spirit can do. Here's the thing with Juan: hes just a silly little guy who loves messing around. He already has so much faith and he loves our Gospel including the Book of Mormon. He loves to pray and his scriptures are all marked up and he really has amazing insights. However, he needs to chill on the freaky stuff cause Juan can be a little concerning.

We also have some other friends on Baptismal date and their names are Jesús and his 11 year old son Arturo. They are from Guatemala where they mainly spoke a language called Kekchi, and a little bit of Spanish. One night we were reading out loud from the Children's Book of Mormon in Spanish and when Arturo was reading, I felt the Holy Spirit more than I have ever felt in my life. Our church believes in a holy spirit that dwells within us to show truth and good things. Normally Arturo and I and struggle together when we read the Spanish Book of Mormon(Spanish is his second language), but that night he didn't skip a beat and read circles around me with so much joy. This spirit was so strong and I  just couldn't help but cry because of how happy I was for Arturo and his dad. I could feel the joy they were feeling and testify that was the Holy Spirit working within us. I know in my first email I ever wrote I said I couldn't cry when I felt the spirit. Since coming out here to Florida, that has simply been thrown out the window. Seeing and feeling the absolute joy this gospel brings to people whom never had it before invokes a feeling in me that I've never experienced in my life. Truly life changing.

There's this scripture that I'd like to share with you all. It's Alma 22:15 and it says, "I will give up all that I possess, yea, I will forsake my kingdom, that I may receive this great joy." This scripture is refering to the joy of eternal life. Many of the Hispanics in my area are displaced from their homes and sadly have no family and friends around them. However, many come to the United States and think they've peaked in life, so it can't get any better than this. They have their massive American Bald eagle sticker on their trucks and they have all their Jordans in an effort conform to the United States. Some also choose to try and find a joy in alcohol and doomscrolling TikTok all day on their porch just like the rest of the South. There is no joy in that at all. We do not need to fit in with what everyone else is currently doing to be happy. We can be like Jesús and Arturo and be different. We can turn to Christ. I can testify of an infinite joy we receive when we give up our old habbits and choose to live righteously through Jesus Christ.

Invitation: Don't try and fit in all the time.

Remember you are loved and life is good.

Peace and Love,
Elder Adamson
